Why does the Chinese word for "Bread" sound like
Mien-bow?!

面包

The Real Meaning

In Mandarin Chinese, the character 面包 (pronounced as miàn bāo) actually translates to Bread.

The Funny Part

Literally 'flour wrap'. China didn't have bread until the West brought it, so they just described it.

面包 means bread! 面 is flour and 包 is wrap/package. Bread is literally a 'flour package'. Chinese is so logical!
